John Logan to adapt Broadway musical 'Jersey Boys' for the big screen
Wanna know just how remarkable John Logan's 2011 was? The Gladiator scribe saw his name attached to one of the best animated films of the year in Rango; Martin Scorsese's critically loved Hugo; and Ralph Fiennes' powerful modernization of Coriolanus. That's a career for most people, but Logan isn't slowing down one bit. In fact he's set to tackle one of the most popular Broadway musicals of all-time, adapting Jersey Boys for the big screen.
The story follows the rise and fall of The Four Seasons, the popular rock band from the 1960s, featuring Frankie Valli as the frontman, and members including Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi. Inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, the group has sold more than 175 million albums worldwide. The plan is to include many of the group's songs featured in the stage performance.
There's no director attached just yet, but Logan seems like a good choice to pen the script. He adapted the film version of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street for Tim Burton back in 2007. Logan's work will next be seen in Skyfall, the upcoming James Bond film starring Daniel Craig. [Variety]
