Jordi Molla is the villain Vin Diesel's 'Riddick'; Katee Sackhoff confirmed

After cashflow problems stalled Vin Diesel's independently financed The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, the third film in the franchise got back on track last month.  Around that same time we heard some additional casting rumors, with Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Andrea Aspergis, and Bokeem Woodbine made offers to appear in the sci-fi action flick. While nothing has been confirmed on the other three, Deadline reports that Sackhoff will take on the female lead opposite Diesel. Sackhoff is probably best known for playing Kara Thrace over five seasons in Battlestar Galactica. I'm assuming this will be a role that requires her to be extremely physical, as Sackhoff isn't the type to play a delicate flower.

While Karl Urban has been rumored to be reprising his role as Vaako from The Chronicles of Riddick, nothing has been heard about that since.  With Variety now reporting that Jordi Molla(Colombiana) is set to play the villain in the film, maybe this is confirmation that Urban has decided to step aside? Molla recently saw his name mentioned amidst all those Star Trek 2 'Khan' rumors, so his stock appears to be rising when it comes to playing bad guys. The story this time around has Riddick betrayed and left for dead on an isolated planet, fighting to survive against alien predators.  When bounty hunters descend on the planet to kill him, they find that they're just pawns in his greater plot for revenge.

Molla would play a mercenary sent in with his team to finish Riddick off. That's not far from what Urban's role in The Chronicles of Riddick was. Whatever the case, this is shaping up to possibly be in theaters by 2013.
