Matthew Lillard takes a swing at 'Trouble With the Curve'
To many, Matthew Lillard will always be just that skinny guy who played Shaggy in those live-action Scooby-Doo movies with Sarah Michelel Gellar and that guy from Summer Catch. Oh yeah, Freddie Prinze. Always forget his name. Lillard has actually found himself at the center of a number of iconic films, whether they be his award winning performance in SLC Punk, or the Scream movies, or She's All That again featuring that Prinze guy. My personal favorite that too many people seem to have forgotten? Wicker Park. Loved that flick.
As an adult, Lillard's found it a bit harder to find a niche for himself, but he took a major step in the right direction co-starring in The Descendants, which is bound to get nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award in a few days. After getting a chance to star opposite George Clooney in that film, he's moving on to one of the greatest living legends in Clint Eastwood.
Lillard is in talks to join Trouble with the Curve, from first-time director Robert Larenz. Eastwood stars as an aging baseball scout who is losing his eyesight, but takes his daughter(Amy Adams) on one last road trip to Atlanta to check out a prospect. Lillard would play a rival scout.
Eastwood hasn't been in front of the camera since 2008's Gran Torino, and has basically been considered retired from acting. This job is special, though, as he'll be helping out Larenz, his long-time producing partner.
Lillard continues to voice Shaggy in those straight-to-DVD Scooby-Doo animated movies littering Wal Mart store shelves. Actually, another one will be out later this year. [EW]

He also directed his first movie, Fat kid Rules The World starring Billy Campbell, Jacob Wsysocki and Matt O'Leary. It'll be showing at Seattle film fest this summer.
