Seth Gordon to direct Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy in 'Identify Theft'

Three of the driving forces behind two of last year's biggest R-rated comedies will be coming together in what looks to be a similarly toned project. Seth Gordon will be directing his Horrible Bosses star Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids' Melissa McCarthy in Identity Theft, a comedy from writer Steve Conrad(The Pursuit of Happyness) and rewritten by Craig Mazin(The Hangover part II).

Bateman will also be producing the film, which initially was meant to be about a guy who has an identity stolen by another guy. However, after the scene stealing run McCarthy has been on, Bateman decided to have the story reworked, making himself the victim of her thievery. I'm sold.

Chances are they'll film this during McCarthy's hiatus from Mike & Molly, as everybody involved is crazy busy. McCarthy has her road trip comedy Tammy lined up, along with Dumb Jock, and that's just the start of it. Bateman has the new season of Arrested Development at some point this year, and Gordon is supposed to be working on a War Games remake(!?!) and a possible feature film version of his King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.
