Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return to horror in James Wan's 'The Conjuring'

In June of last year, James Wan was still grinning ear-to-ear over the box office success of Insidious, which if you break it down was the most profitable movie of 2011. At that time, he saw fit to cash in on the good will that afforded him by jumping into his next project pretty quickly. He signed on to direct The Conjuring, which has some of the same psychological trapping as Insidious, but with the added kick of being "based on a true story".  Yeah right.

Variety reports he's found the two stars to be the face of the film, and they are no stranger to the horror game. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are in final talks to join, playing Carolyn and Roger Perron, who in the 1970s claim to have "lived among the dead" as good and evil spirits frequented their Rhode Island home. The script is by Chad and Carey Hayes, who don't exactly have the best track record, having written House of Wax and the most boring film I ever saw, Whiteout.

Farmiga has been the distressed mom in so many horror/thrillers she can probably do this in her sleep. The most recent was Orphan, where her family was terrorized by a Russian kid with bad make-up and weird eye for fashion. Wilson will be reteaming with Wan after starring in Insidious.

The Perron's story was captured in the book, House of Darkness, House of Light: The True Story written by Andrea Perron.
