Anthony Mackie in talks to join online gambling drama, 'Runner Runner'

When will Anthony Mackie finally turn the corner and become the A-list star many of us expect him to be? After breaking out in Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, he followed that up with a solid turn in The Adjustment Bureau. However, he doesn't seem to be gaining any ground, even as he takes on supporting bits in some great looking films. He just finished wrapping Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad, and still has to finish his part in Michael Bay's Pain and Gain. Now he's adding another great looking film to his schedule, in what will likely be another showy supporting bid.

Deadline reports Mackie may join the cast of Runner Runner, the online gambling film starring Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake, and Oliver Cooper. Directed by Brad Furman(The Lincoln Lawyer), the film features a script by Rounders scribes David Levien and Brian Koppelman, and takes an inside look at the $30B a year industry. Mackie's role is unclear at this point.

Filming is set to begin in June. Mackie will be seen next in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, opening on June 22nd.
