The red band trailer for The Watch(formerly Neighborhood Watch) released a few weeks ago was pure genius. When you have a cast that includes Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Brit comic/filmmaker Richard Ayoade(Submarine) all together, there's no need to give away all of the plot's details. Just show these four outrageously funny dudes just shootin' the sh*t and saying every vulgar thing that pops into their mind. With the newly released all ages trailer, we start to see a bit more of what the story will entail, including our first glimpse at the alien menace.
The trailer debuted last night on Conan, and in it we get many of the same scenes we've seen before only raunch free. Stiller and the gang play a bunch of suburban dudes who are part of a 'Neighborhood Watch' program, as a means to really just hang out and escape their boring lives, only to get in over their heads when an extraterrestrial invasion takes place. The narration seems to indicate that the group was formed specifically to stop the threat, which would make this a slightly different move than the official description indicates. Either way, this still looks hilarious and may be the sleeper hit of the year. Will Forte, Rosemarie DeWitt, Billy Crudup, and Nicholas Braun co-star, with Akiva Schaffer directing.
