Trailer Time: 'Bachelorette', staring Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher

"Like a Jane Austen novel on crack".  The problem for a movie like Bachelorette, and I heard this from the first day in Sundance, is that it's going to be compared to Bridesmaids pretty much every step of the way. There's some cause for that, it again deals with a tight-knit friendship that is threatened by an impending marriage. The major difference is that the friends in this case are all pretty reprehensible. Oh, and we actually get to see the bachelorette party! Yes!

Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, and Lizzy Caplan play three rather selfish best friends who are invited to be bridesmaids for a girl they used to call "Pigface" back in high school. Bridesmaids alum, Rebel Wilson, plays the blushing bride, who gets convinced by her friends to throw a bachelorette party which goes terribly out of control. The wedding dress looking like an unintended casualty of the night's festivities.  James Marsden and Adam Scott, with Leslye Headland directing and adapting her own stageplay.

Caplan, Wilson, and Fisher are three of the most talented comedic actresses around, and Dunst is no slouch either. For them alone this is a film worth checking out, although reports out of Sundance were mixed, with the main complaint that the material doesn't measure up to the incredible cast. Bachelorette hits VOD on August 10th before opening in theaters on September 7th. Check out the trailer below...
