New trailer for cop thriller 'End of Watch', with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena

While it's true that if you took all of David Ayer's movies and played them back-to-back-to-back you'd have a hard time figuring out where one ends and the next begins, the fact is he's pretty darn good at capturing the daily grind and constant turmoil of being a lowly LAPD grunt. He's got a real feel for the camaraderie and trust that develops between partners patrolling the violent city streets, and it's that closeness that shines through in the first part of the new trailer for End of Watch.

Starring Michael Pena(The Lucky Ones) and Jake Gyllenhaal, the film follows two best friends and partners who get in over their heads when they uncover a cache of drug cartel loot and decide to keep it for themselves. This not only puts them in the crosshairs of the cartel who want their cash back, but also puts their families in danger. As strong as the first part of the trailer is, the second half may be even better, as Ayer finally mixes up his bag of camera tricks with a kinetic, first-person perspective that gives the film an edgier look than anything he's done previously. I liked the red band trailer released just last week, and this one makes me think this could be Ayer's best effort in a long time.

End of Watch also stars Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Frank Grillo, and is set to hit theaters on September 21st.....
