Chris Hemsworth offered lead in 'American Assassin'

Can there ever be such a thing as too much Chris Hemsworth? We may be finding out pretty soon as the actor is being pulled in a number of different directions. Of course he's got Thor: The Dark World filming right now, and Ron Howard's F-1 racing flick Rush is around the corner. Not only that, but Steven Spielberg wants him for Robopocalypse, and of course there's that Snow White and the Huntsman sequel he's set for. Phew! When would this guy sleep?

CBS Films hopes there can never be enough Hemsworth, and they're willing to pony up the big bucks to get him under their roof. Deadline reveals they've offered $10M for Hemsworth to lead American Assassin, based on Vince Flynn's series of novels following CIA operative Mitch Rapp. Directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff(Traitor), the film is based on the 11th book in the series, which is actually a prequel and details Rapp's college years before he's recruited into the agency after his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack. Mike Finch wrote the latest draft of the script.

This seems like a no-brainer for Hemsworth, who now is rivaling Jeremy Renner in hogging every blockbuster franchise around. Plus it may give him a chance to work alongside Bruce Willis, who entered talks last month to play Rapp's mentor.
