First clip from Ang Lee's 'Life of Pi'
There's no question that Ang Lee's Life of Pi is a visually striking spectacle, full of lush colors and wide open spaces that seem perfectly suited to 3D. The biggest question surrounding it is whether newcomer Suraj Sharma can command the screen, as he's pretty much in every frame and doesn't have anyone to play off of except for that impressive CGI tiger.
But Ang Lee's a smart guy and a visionary filmmaker who doesn't often make mistakes. If he trusts Sharma to do the job then that's all the information I need. Lee introduces the first clip from the film, which includes that memorable image of Pi and the Bengal tiger looking out at the endless sea in which they are adrift. This footage expands on that as the boat comes under assault from a school of flying fish.
Life of Pi opens on November 21st. Check out the clip below....
