First 'Hitchcock' trailer with Anthony Hopkins as the legendary director

"I'm just a man hiding in the corner with a camera....watching." Last year we saw Michell Williams give an incredible, Oscar-worthy performance in My Week with Marilyn, which was set against the backdrop of her making of The Prince and the Showgirl. The film itself didn't amount to much, but Fox Searchlight hopes they can take a similar premise and strike gold with Hitchcock, with Anthony Hopkins embodying the legendary filmmaker as he struggles to get Psycho off the ground. The Oscar buzz is certainly in Hopkins' favor, but it's only now with the release of the first trailer that we're seeing him in action.

Cut like a horror movie in it's own right, the trailer highlights some of the roadblocks Hitchcock was forced to overcome with Psycho's production, starting from his disbelieving peers who think he's joking, to the studio that thinks the film will be a flop. Hopkins seems to capture the director's quiet but commanding presence, and the chemistry between him and Helen Mirren as Hitchock's wife is obvious. That bit where they discuss the killing off of Janet Leigh at the beginning of the film is priceless. The make-up work is stunning, and generally this looks like it may be the Best Picture contender the studio has been hoping for.

Directed by Sacha Gervasi, Hitchcock opens on November 23rd. Check out the trailer below.....
