New international poster for 'Carrie'

Kimberly Peirce has a tough assignment on her hands trying to remake Carrie, which is cherished on a couple of different fronts. The 1976 is an unquestioned horror classic, and some of the bloody images of Sissy Spacek are as iconic as anything else in the genre. But also it's one of Stephen King's most memorable novels, so if she screws up she'll have two groups of fans writing nasty things on her Facebook page.

Footage from the Chloe Moretz-led remake hit NYCC this weekend, and from the best I've been able to gather, it mostly showed an aerial view of the town on fire, before swooping down to a bloody Moretz. They also released the above international poster for the film, which makes it pretty clear we'll be seeing lots of Moretz drenched in blood.

I'm curious to see if the ballsy Peirce attempts to go in a slightly different direction, or if she sticks close to the source material. Moretz has described the film as being in the same vein as Black Swan, which is a pretty good film to emulate. Promises something a little more personal and maybe even creepier.  Oh, and if you call 207-404-2604 you'll get a cool phone message from various characters from the film, including Julianne Moore as Carrie's creepy fundamentalist mom.  Carrie opens next year on March 15th and co-stars Portia Doubleday, Judy Greer, Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, and Gabriela Wilde.
