Nicolas Cage joins Hayden Christensen for 'Outcast'

Chill out, Nic Cage fans! I know it seemed like he was turning the corner, signing up for movies with a pair of auteurs like David Gordon Green and William Friedkin, but....well, that's pretty much over. Cage has signed up for Outcast, a historical action flick set in China and directed by a stunt man. Oh, and it stars Hayden Christensen. Whomp!

The film is set in 10th century China and follows a warrior attempting to redeem himself by saving a princess. Eh. Nick Powell, who served as a stunt man on The Three Musketeers will make his directorial debut, working off a script by James Dormer.

This sounds potentially disastrous. Cage will always be entertaining in some small way, but Christiansen hasn't done anything good since Shattered Glass, and certainly can't match his co-star in terms of sheer insanity. If all falls into place, Outcast will film next year. [TheWrap]
