RZA and comics scribe Grant Morrison teaming for 'Happy!'

The RZA: the mad genius behind the formation of the Wu-Tang Clan and next month's The Man with the Iron Fists. Grant Morrison: the twisted mind behind such awesome comic book hits as We3, All-Star Superman(best Supes story in years), and New X-men(same goes for X-men!). The thought of these two teaming up on pretty much anything is almost too much for a hip hop and funnybook fanboy's head to handle, but it's something to get used to because it's definitely happening.

Straight out of the New York Comic-Con comes word that RZA and Morrison are teaming up to bring the writer's latest comic, Happy!, to the big screen. Just released last month, Happy! is the sort of bizarre and ingenious piece of work only Morrison could cook up. The story follows Nick Sax, a scumbag ex-cop and hitman who is gravely injured after a job goes bad. Waking with the ability to see a happy-go-lucky blue horse named Happy, and the two embark on a crazy attempt to find redemption by saving a troubled kid. Morrison is working on screenplay while RZA is stepping behind the camera. Reginald Hudlin(The Great White Hype) is producing.

I'm happy to see RZA stretching himself with his follow-up, even if the project will walk that same balance of comedic violence that 'Fists' seems to. If anything, it shows that RZA isn't getting out of the world of movies any time soon, and may be here to stay. [THR]
