8 new 'Gangster Squad' character banners

Knocked off its September perch by the Colorado shootings, Ruben Fleischer's 1940s-era crime flick Gangster Squad is now set to open next year on January 11th.  It's a pretty hefty drop for a film some thought might be an Oscar contender, to now opening at a time most consider to be cinematic Siberia. That leads me to think maybe Warner Bros. knows something we don't, and that the film might not be as good as its incredible cast would lead us to believe.

In the meantime, Warner Bros. is slowly ratcheting up the marketing campaign with a recently released trailer and now these eight new character banners. Ryan Gosling plays a member of an LAPD unit designed to take down the mob, led by east coast gangster Mick Cohen played by Sean Penn. Josh Brolin, Robert Patrick, Emma Stone, Giovanni Ribisi, and Anthony Mackie each get their own banner, but I'm most excited that my man Michael Pena is also getting some love. Dude is seriously underrated as evidenced by his recent turn in End of Watch.
