We're in the thick of awards season, and for me the Thanksgiving week is when I catch up on all of the screeners the studios send us for consideration. One that still hasn't hit my door, but I'm hoping it will before our WAFCA Awards deadline, is Judd Apatow's This is 40. Are we looking at Apatow's first real shot at winning some gold? Only time will tell, but for now we have a new international trailer that comes with some previously unseen footage.
Using the popular Pete(Paul Rudd) and Debbie(Leslie Mann) characters from Knocked Up as a means of exploring midlife crises, insecurity, and marriage, Apatow again appears to be walking that balance between humor and human drama. Hopefully he finds more success here than with Funny People, which attempted much the same thing.
This is 40 opens on December 21st....
