New trailer for Bryan Singer's 'Jack the Giant Slayer'

After appearing poised to be one of this year's biggest summer blockbusters, a trailer for Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Slayer(then known as Jack the Giant Killer) emerged that put a damper on all that enthusiasm. It was pretty terrible, and eventually the film got booted nearly a year to a new release date in 2013. So now that the latest trailer is here does the film look any better? Well....

While I'm still not sold this will be a major player, this trailer does show a slight improvement. A swashbuckling take on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk, there's a greater emphasis on big, fantasy action as we see the titular hero(Nicholas Hoult) leave his humble trappings for the land where giants roam. There's a much needed infusion of humor, as well, and the giants themselves are rather impressive. But Hoult seems out of a place as an action hero, and Ewan McGregor doesn't seem to be taking to a supporting role all that well. On the other hand, Stanley Tucci looks like he's having a ball as the bad guy, so he may be the best part.

Co-starring Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, Eddie Marsan, Eleanor Tomlinson, and John Kassir, Jack the Giant Slayer opens on March 1st 2013....
