We kinda knew this already, what with Jay-Z and Kanye West's 'No Church in the Wild' crashing through Baz Luhrmann's trailer for The Great Gatsby. It made for an oddly fitting mix with the period setting and the brassy tone, but Luhrmann is old hat at doing just this sort of thing with both Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge! Now we have a confirmation that it won't just be Jay-Z's old songs being used, he'll be providing the score.
Jeymes Samuel of The Bullitts took to Twitter to reveal that he and Jay-Z are working together on the music for what he thinks is going to be a #Classic....
Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!Right now the soundtrack is being credited to Luhrmann's frequent collaborator, Craig Armstrong, so I'm not sure how all of this is going to shake out. There's also talk of Lady Gaga and Prince supplying some original material, so no matter how this goes we know the score is going to be pretty hype.
