New trailer for 'Despicable Me 2' with Steve Carell and Al Pacino
Fresh off the release of a new teaser poster for Despicable Me 2, Universal has now given us the latest trailer for the film, which finally puts the Minions to the side and shows us what ex-supervillain Gru (Steve Carell) has been up to.
Having grown more fatherly since adopting three little girls in the last film, Gru is beginning to worry about future boy trouble until he's faced with a slightly more terrifying threat. Kidnapped by the Anti-Villain League, he and a pair of minions are whisked away to their underwater lair so they can be recruited to battle a new enemy, presumably the one voiced by Al Pacino.
As with the last film, which grossed a mighty $540M in 2010, the unpredictable Minions are the biggest source of humor. It's part of the reason why the studio has upped their exposure with plans of a future Minions spinoff.
Also featuring the voices of Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan, Despicable Me 2 opens on July 3rd.
