Really want a 'Veronica Mars' movie? Bad enough to pay for it?
When any critically loved but low-rated TV series goes off the air, inevitably there come the rumors of it being turned into a movie. A lot of this spring forth from the fans, who crank out petitions left and right that never amount to much, and basically blow up message boards with their cries for "more more more"! Rarely does it ever work out, but in the case of the Kristen Bell series Veronica Mars, Warner Bros. is willing to at least give it a shot.
The studio has agreed to produce a Veronica Mars film in 2014, but only if it can raise $2M in the next 30 days. So to that end, show creator Rob Thomas and Bell have started a Kickstarter campaign for it. As of right now, it's up $119K, so if you're like one of the dozens of people who watched the show it's time for you to put your money where your mouth is. Ok, I'm exaggerating a little. Thousands of people watched it, including yours truly.
This is a big deal, and if it succeeds you can bet your butt there will be new campaigns springing up in rapid fire succession. Maybe now would be a good time to start pushing for a proper Dead Like Me film? Simply go here if you wish to pitch in to the Veronica Mars campaign. As with most Kickstarters, you'll receive some pretty cool stuff depending on the amount you contribute. I pitched in $25, so I can get the Veronica Mars t-shirt I'd never be caught wearing.
