Shailene Woodley offered lead in 'The Fault in Our Stars'

What began weeks ago as playful retweeting between Shailene Woodley and The Fault in Our Stars author John Green has now developed into a full-blown movie offer. Josh Boone (Stuck in Love) signed on to direct the feature film adaptation of Green's hit book, and now after much speculation, Woodley has been offered the lead role of Hazel Grace Lancaster.

This gives Woodley the chance to reteam with The Spectacular Now scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who were hired to adapt the screenplay.  The story follows two cancer-stricken patients who meet in a support group and embark upon a relationship while dealing with their illnesses. Woodley is currently filming The Amazing Spider-Man sequel where she's playing Mary Jane Watson, and will next lead the YA adaptation, Divergent.

Woodley's been on quite a roll, and is quickly establishing herself as one of today's top actresses regardless of age. It's expected she'll turn heads yet again when The Spectacular Now opens later this year. For my review of it, just  go here.
