Jack Bauer is back as Fox officially greenlights '24: Live Another Day' for series
A couple of months ago, Antoine Fuqua pretty much drove the final nail in the coffin of a big-screen adaptation of hit TV series, 24. Schedules just couldn't be met, largely due to Kiefer Sutherland's latest show, Touch, and some behind-the-scenes haggling over how much he would earn for arming up as Jack Bauer once again. But as Sutherland's show has now been cancelled after two seasons, word began to break last week that 24 could return to the small screen, and now Deadline has confirmed it is definitely happening.
Sutherland will reprise his role as Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, which Fox has officially greenlit as a limited, 12-episode series. Brian Grazer will return as exec-producer, along with longtime showrunner Howard Gordon. The show is expected to kickoff in May 2014.
The season will start from scratch with a completely new storyarc, but it's unclear if the format means each episode will cover two hours of the day. It's possible they're ditching the original, hour-by-hour format completely, but unlikely given that it was 24's greatest calling card. If it's a success, don't be surprised if buzz for a feature film stirs back up.
