*His voice is currently being heard in the animated forest adventure, Epic, and this fall he'll do battle in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but Josh Hutcherson will jump into psychological thriller territory for his next film. He's set to produce and star in Ape, to be directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men), and centers on "a young man's struggle with mental illness, love and a deep-rooted family secret".
* Paddy Considine, soon to tackling an epic pub crawl with Simon Pegg in The World's End, has come aboard the cast Cold War thriller, Child 44. Coming aboard with him will be Fares Fares (Zero Dark Thirty), joining a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman, and Gary Oldman in Daniel Espinosa's adaptation of the novel about an MGB agent investigating the case of a serial child murderer who may have connections at the top of Stalin's regime. Considine's role is still under wraps, but Fares will play Hardy's colleague when filming begins this summer. [The Wrap]
* Speaking of The World's End bar crawlers, Rosamund Pike has added a couple of projects to her dance card. She, along with Shiloh Fernandez and Nick Nolte, will be starring in Return to Sender, which despite the title is not a sequel to You've Got Mail. She plays a small-town nurse who sees her life upended after going on a blind date with Fernandez's character, who turns out not to be who he claims. Nolte will play her father, while the film is directed by Fouad Mikati, who gave us the hit-man comedy Operation: Endgame. Pike will move from this into French Widow, a thriller starring Josh Duhamel that will shoot this fall. [THR]
