Splatter-filled red and green band trailers for 'Hammer of the Gods'


Best known for directing episodes of Doctor Who and The Fades, Farren Blackburn is making his big screen debut by venturing into the violent world of vikings with Hammer of the Gods. Hitting VOD on May 30th before slicing up theaters on July 5th, two vastly different trailers have debuted, even though both make this look like a poor man's attempt to blend Game of Thrones with Spartacus: War of the Damned.

Charlie Bewley (The Twilight Saga) stars as Steinar, a young Viking warrior in 9th century Britain who is sent on a mission across hostile territory to locate his banished brother. In the process of defeating strange beats and vicious enemies, he becomes the brutal warrior his father the king (James Cosmo, Braveheart) always hoped he'd be. The mature footage features buckets of blood and eye-gouging levels of gore. It's at least notable in comparison to the dull and murky green band trailer.  Check out the trailers for Hammer of the Gods below...
