Zach Lipovsky to direct WWE Studios' 'Leprechaun' reboot

Every time I flip on WWE Friday Night Smackdown and endure another lame, unfunny segment with the vertically-challenged superstar Hornswoggle, I have to be reminded he's set to star in a reboot of cult favorite horror,  Leprechaun. News on the film has been quiet of late, but now WWE Studios and Lionsgate have made an interesting choice in hiring Zach Lipovsky to direct it.

Lipovsky comes from a visual effects background, but he's best known as a finalist on Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett's reality series, On the Lot.  He's completed a number of films for the small screen, most recently directing SyFy Channel's Tasmanian Devils starring Danica McKellar of The Wonder Years.

The new Leprechaun will feature a script by Harris Wilkinson and will be darker, with no connection to the prior films. [TheWrap]
