Ed Helms joins 'Stretch'; Holliday Grainger Set for 'Cinderella'; Josh Peck May Join 'Imagine'
* Fresh off the suck-fest that was The Hangover Part III, Ed Helms is looking to bounce back with the comedy thriller, Stretch. Starring Patrick Wilson and Chris Pine with Joe Carnahahn (The Grey) directing, the film has Wilson as “a down-on-his-luck chauffeur looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back.” Helms will play one of Wilson's colleagues, which means that Pine is likely taking on the role of the rich guy. Blumhouse Productions is backing the low-budget film, following on the strong debut of The Purge.
* With Showtime's The Borgias now canceled, that's left co-star Holliday Grainger wide open to pursue some big screen projects, and she's just landed a big one. She'll play one of the cruel stepsister's in Disney's live-action Cinderella, joining Lily James as the titular princess, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmom, and Richard Madden (poor Robb Stark!!!) as Prince Charming. When filming begins this fall it will be Kenneth Branagh behind the camera.
* Josh Peck (The Wackness) is in talks to join Al Pacino, Jennifer Garner, Annette Bening, Bobby Cannavale, and Michael Caine in Imagine, the directorial debut from Crazy Stupid Love writer Dan Fogelman. Based on a true story, the film centers an aging rocker who is prompted by a letter from John Lennon to reconnect with the son he never knew. Peck's role sounds like a small one, playing a love-struck hotel valet encouraged by Pacino to pursue his dream girl. [TheWrap]
