First 'Star Wars' Spinoffs Will Follow Young Han Solo and Boba Fett

Casting for Star Wars: Episode VII got underway today, and finally we're getting a clearer picture of the characters we can expect to see, assuming the film hits its target date of summer 2015. Disney has been forthcoming on their rollout plan for the franchise, aiming to release a new film every summer, alternating between "Episodes" and a series of spinoffs. But now a "trusted and reliable" source has given Joblo a more detailed breakdown that presumably takes us through the entire first wave of movies.

The plan is pretty much what we learned before, alternating between new Episodes and stand-alone character spinoffs going all the way through Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019. The story "confirms" that the first spinoff will follow a young Han Solo and how he became buddies with Chewbacca on the Millennium Falcon. The second spinoff would center on Boba Fett, although no information on his story has been revealed. This would support prior rumors that had Han Solo and Boba Fett were receiving their own films, along with one that would center on Yoda. A planned animated Lego show with Yoda as the focus has shut down any plans for his film.

Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are set to pen the spinoffs, whatever form they ultimately take. We'll see if if this turns out to be true, or if it's just another Star Wars rumor to throw on the pile.
