James Gandolfini Passes Away At 51

A heartbreaking way to end the day as James Gandolfini has passed away at the age of 51 of what is believed to be a heart attack.  The New Jersey native got his start in 1987's Shock! Shock! Shock!, and went on to appear in a number of small roles, but his big break came when he played Virgil in Tony Scott and Quentin Tarantino's True Romance. His career blossomed after that, until he scored the role that would define his career, playing mafia boss Tony Soprano in HBO's The Sopranos. He would win three Best Actor Emmys for his performance, helping to lead what many consider the greatest television series of all time. His presence has been felt in numerous other appearances on the screen and stage, including lending his unforgettable voice to Spike Jonze's Where The Wild Things Are.

Most recently he had major roles in Zero Dark Thirty, Violet & Daisy, Killing Them Softly, and recently joined The Sopranos creator David Chase for Not Fade Away. He had a number of projects recently completed, including a role opposite Tom Hardy in Animal Rescue. Our deepest condolences go out to Gandolfini's family and friends for their loss.
