New Posters for 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom', 'The Smurfs 2', and 'Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters'

First he was a freedom fighter, now he's a trouble maker, and presumably he'll be something far greater when the next poster for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom hits. This image presents Idris Elba, looking like he's been hanging out at the nearest Burger King (they have those in South Africa?), as the revered civil rights leader and political activist. Justin Chadwick is directing the story which chronicles Mandela's rise to prominence, his fiery activism, early education, and ultimate imprisonment. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom makes a bid for Oscar gold on November 29th. Hopefully we get a trailer soon. [THR]

There have been more posters for The Smurfs 2 than there are of the little blue pests running around Smurf Village, and now here's one more coming straight from Japan. Bringing back the cast from the $560M-grossing (!!!!!!!) first film, the sequel takes the Smurfs to Paris where they must rescue a kidnapped Smurfette from the clutches of Gargamel (Hank Azaria). Christina Ricci and JB Smoove voice the Naughties, evil versions of the Smurfs who teach Smurfette how to be...well, naughty. I didn't have as big of a problem with last one as some others did, but by no means does that mean I want to see more! Head to the theater and get smurfed on July 31st.

The latest character profile poster for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters highlights a different son of Poseidon, one who wasn't a part of the last film. Douglas Smith plays Tyson, Percy's half-brother, who presumably will accompany him on the journey to the Sea of Monsters to find the Golden Fleece. Or perhaps he'll be a trouble-maker. I honestly have no clue, but those glasses are awfully heelish. Perhaps someone who has read the books can clue me in? Starring Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Stanley Tucci (replacing Pierce Brosnan), and Nathan Fillion, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters opens on August 7th.
