New Trailer For 'Prince Avalanche' Starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch

After a trio of studio films that only produced one worth remembering in Pineapple Express, David Gordon Green sought to return to his indie auteur roots with his latest effort, Prince Avalanche. Rounding up a great central duo in Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, shooting it in complete secrecy, and revealing it finally at Sundance, the quirky buddy comedy about an unlikely friendship could be a sleeper hit this summer.

A new trailer for the film has been released, and it's an improvement over the one we received just a couple of months ago. With Rudd in one of the two lead roles, they went a little overboard in presenting it as a comedy, when clearly it's more dramatic than that. A remake of the Icelandic film, Either Way, Rudd and Hirsch star as two city workers who form a friendship while spending the summer painting a country highway destroyed by wildfires. Most impressive is what looks like a completely different sort of performance by Rudd, free to simply act and not try so hard to be the funny or charming one. The mustache needs work, though.

Prince Avalanche opens on August 9th.
