Carey Mulligan Feels 'The Fury'; Danny McBride Joins Cameron Crowe's Next Film; Abigail Breslin is "Maggie'
* Carey Mulligan is set to reteam with her Shame scribe Abi Morgan for The Fury, a film which also reunites Morgan with Brick Lane director, Sarah Gavron. Formerly titled Suffragettes, the long-developing drama centers on the U.K. suffragist movement, in which women fought for the right to vote in the early part of the 20th century. It's unclear if they'll base the characters on some of the real life figures who helped lead the protests, such as Emily Davison or Emmeline Pankhurt, but that would seem the likely route to be taken. Mulligan will be seen next in the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, and will next film Thomas Vinterberg's Far from the Madding Crowd. [Deadline]
* We still don't know exactly what form Cameron Crowe's next comedy is going to take, even though we expect it to be a version of his shelved Deep Tiki script. What we do know for sure is that Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, and Emma Stone are on board to star, and at least according to Cooper, Danny McBride is also part of the cast. The story reportedly has Cooper as a former soldier turned military contractor who, along with an uptight military liaison, must get the blessing of Hawaiian tribal leaders before a satellite launch can take place. No word on McBride's role, but a fall shoot has been confirmed so expect this one to have a lot of attention in the coming weeks. [HuffPo]
* It seems Abigail Breslin just can't get away from those zombies. In Zombieland she was battling the forces of the undead, but in the unusual zombie film Maggie, she'll be one of them. Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to play her father, who must come to grips with his daughter slowly transforming into a zombie. Chloe Moretz had been set for Breslin's role back when John Scott 3's script was red hot after emerging on the Black List. Filming begins this fall with Henry Hobson making his directorial debut.
