Comic-Con Posters for 'Godzilla', 'Seventh Son', '300: Rise Of An Empire', and 'I, Frankenstein'

It's no longer enough to just show up at San Diego Comic-Con to begin a film's marketing campaign. Studios have now taken to having marketing campaigns for the marketing campaign, which is just bizarre and counter-intuitive in just about every way. But nonetheless, we have Comic-Con posters for some of the biggest movies to hit the show floor. Enjoy!

Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. have been dropping viral clues everywhere about the Comic-Con presence of the Godzilla reboot. It's expected to be huge, with director Gareth Edwards promising a surprise announcement. It was at last year's event that we first saw a hint of the creature's design, but this new poster does a pretty good job of it, as well. One has to expect we'll see some footage of Godzilla stomping through the city streets, possibly San Diego. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Juliette Binoche, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, David Strathairn, and Sally Hawkins will star in the film on May 16th 2014.

Seventh Son has a tough road ahead standing out with The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Ender's Game sucking up all of the air, but one way they may do it is by highlighting the terrific cast. Three new posters do a pretty good job of it, with Kit Harington, Alicia Vikander, and Djimon Hounsou featured. Surprisingly, the main character played by Ben Barnes hasn't had his issued yet, but maybe they're saving his and the ones for Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore for last. The film is based on The Wardstone Chronicles novels and centers Tom Ward, the seventh son of a seventh son, who becomes the apprentice of a Spook and learns to use his powers against evil. Seventh Son opens on January 17th 2014.

There are a handful of characters returning for Noam Murro's 300: Rise of an Empire, but the most intriguing one by far is Queen Gorgo, played by Game of Thrones star Lena Headey. After the death of her husband Leonidas, it appears she's got a thirst for bloody revenge against Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). It was thought her role would be more of a cameo but this new poster for her suggests otherwise. Perhaps she's backing the naval effort to defeat the Persian fleet? Can we maybe get a cat fight between Headey and Eva Green's Artemisia?  300: Rise of an Empire opens on March 7th 2014.

Classic movie monsters are back in vogue, and obviously comic book movies own the Comic-Con landscape. So you'd think that a film like I, Frankenstein, which combines them both, would be a huge thing right now, but it's kind of flying under the radar. Based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux and directed by Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow When the War Began), the film stars Aaron Eckhart as the monster creation, who has given himself the name Adam Frankenstein after his creator. Now in modern times, he finds himself in the middle of a war between gargoyles and demons to uncover the secret of his immortality. Also starring Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Jai Courtney, and Miranda Otto, I, Frankenstein opens on January 24th 2014.
