New Trailer, Featurettes, and Images from 'Snowpiercer' with Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton

South Korean director Bong Joon-Ho has amassed a star-studded cast for his apocalyptic sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer, and it's no surprise he was able to do it given the stellar films on his resume. What is surprising is that the film is only a month away from a release in South Korea, and yet The Weinstein Company have yet to give it a stateside date, despite having scooped up the rights last fall? Sometimes it's tough to get a handle on the Weinstein logic when it comes to their international properties, and it seems a little odd that a potential Oscar contender is being held up in this way.

A new trailer and a number of images have been released featuring the talented cast, and giving a look at the dirty, dystopian future the film is set in. Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Song Kang-Ho, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, and Ewen Bremner star in the story set after a global warming disaster has killed off most of humanity and left the world in an ice age. The few who remain live on a massive perpetually-moving train, until supplies begin to dwindle and a class system emerges, sparking a violent revolt. Somehow Swinton still manages to look classy, decked out in furs while everyone else is in tatters, and it looks like she'll be among those looking to keep the poor in their place. Look closely at one of the images and you'll see a shot taken from the original French graphical novel, Les Transperceneige.

A handful of featurettes with the cast reveal a few additional details, and I've also includes an animated prelude setting up the Snowpiercer world.
