Saoirse Ronan Confirms She's Met for 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Role; Sullivan Stapleton Rumored
When it comes to rumors floating around Hollywood, but most especially in regards to Disney and Star Wars, it's best to take it with a bit of skepticism. Numerous names have been connected to roles in Star Wars: Episode VII and there have been no real confirmations of anything, not even that they've gone in for a script read with producers. But Saoirse Ronan, who was rumored to have met with them a few weeks ago, has come out and said it's absolutely true....and not really a big deal.
While talking to Sky News, Ronan revealed that she has auditioned for a role, which is speculated to be one of the female leads, but adding "so has everyone". Apparently it's not such a special thing anymore to get called in for a read over at Lucasfilm. She did add that if she were to speak on it further, those above her would "chop off her head with a light-sabre."
The secrecy suggests there could be more going on here, but we'll just have to wait until Lucasfilm makes some official announcements. In less inspiring news, the latest actor to have his name thrown into the mix is Sullivan Stapleton, the Animal Kingdom star who is set to make his biggest turn yet in 300: Rise of an Empire. According to Latino Review, Stapleton began running his mouth about the meeting and pissed off some studio execs, so assuming there's a shred of truth to any of this, the actor may have talked his way out of a pretty sweet gig.
Production on Star Wars: Episode VII begins early next year.
