And another Star Wars rumor bites the dust, but in this case it's one of the longest going and, seemingly, one expected to be true. Of the many names mentioned for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, Benedict Cumberbatch was the most frequent, basically said to be a sure thing for a villain role. As for the actor himself, he was willing to "wait and see", and now it looks as if a decision has been made.
Cumberbatch was attending OzComicCon today and during a Q&A he said that our hopes of seeing a Darth Cumberbatch in J.J. Abrams' film have been dashed. Aussie site The Iris captured the quote....
“I would’ve liked a part in J.J.’s new Star Wars but it won’t happen sadly.”
Of course, this could all just be Star Trek Into Darkness-style trickery. He and Abrams are famous for that sort of thing. [via ThePlaylist]
