Channing Tatum Sets Sights on Major Role in 'The Hateful Eight'
Never one to skimp when it comes to casting, Quentin Tarantino is gathering an impressive lineup for his next Western, The Hateful Eight. Last month we learned Jennifer Jason Leigh would be joining Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and more in the film, and now Deadline reports Channing Tatum is circling a role.
The Hateful Eight very nearly got shelved permanently when the script leaked last year, but Tarantino gave it another shot after doing some rewrites. All we know about Tatum's role is that it's a "major" one, meaning he'll likely be spending a lot of time on screen with Leigh, who takes the female lead as convicted criminal Daisy Domergue. The post-Civil War story follows a pair of bounty hunters, a sheriff, and their female prisoner, trapped with four strangers who may or may not be trying to set her free.
Tatum is probably the last actor anyone would think Tarantino would be seeking out, but then again did we ever think Brad Pitt would be in one of his movies? Probably not. Filming on The Hateful Eight will begin in January.
