Jessica Chastain Demands Respect from David Oyelowo in Clip from 'A Most Violent Year'

If there's one film that has all of the ingredients to be a powerhouse this season it's A Most Violent Year. Directed by JC Chandor (All is Lost, Margin Call), with a cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Oscar Isaac, and David Oyelowo, no film comes with quite the same level of pedigree behind it. The trailers we've seen so far have been blazing hot fire, and now the first clip has arrived that turns the heat it up even more.

Set in 1981 New York, the most violent year in the city's record, the story follows immigrant businessman Abel (Isaac) and his wife Anna (Chastain), as they try to expand their business while surrounded by corruption. In this scene we see Anna, who happens to be the daughter of a mob boss, making a not-so-subtle demand of respect from Oyelowo's character. In less than a minute we've got the lay of the land completely, and it's clear Anna is not someone to be trifled with.

A Most Violent Year gets an Oscar qualifying run on December 31 before expanding in January.
