Universal wants 'Prisoners' Writer to Reboot The Wolf Man

When Universal announced their plans to bring back their classic movie monsters, a return of the Wolf Man was inevitable. The only issue was that it had only been a few years since the terrible Benicio Del Toro film they hoped would revitalize the character, but instead ended up stinking like a wet dog. With their brand new monster-verse getting off to a promising start with Dracula Untold, Universal has found the writer they think can do Wolfie justice.

Aaron Guzikowski, writer of the pitch black thriller Prisoners, is being sought to pen a new take on the Wolf Man. That's pretty much all we know at this point, except that it will come after the Mummy film directed by Alex Kurtzman. Recently we learned that a mystery monster film had been set for April 21st 2017 but it's unclear if that's for Wolf Man, Frankenstein's Monster, or the Van Helsing remake that last we heard had Tom Cruise on board.

This is pure speculation but 2016 would mark the 75th anniversary of the original Wolf Man movie in 1941, and Universal may want to have the film ready by then.  [Deadline]
