Curt Connors Confirmed in Spider-Man 4, But What About The Lizard?
The best thing about comic book movies, other than seeing my childhood heroes brought to life on the big screen, are the rumors and speculation that swirl with every bit of information that hits the 'net. The Spider-Man franchise, while one of the fathers of the bunch, certainly hasn't been exempt from that. This 4th installment seems to be churning out even more grist for the rumor mill than most. Case in point: during a Q&A following a showing of Trick 'r Treat, Dylan Baker was asked a few questions regarding his role as Dr. Curt Connors in the Spider-Man films. Baker let it be known that he had gotten his first call in regards to the film that very day.
Us super nerds already know the deal with Connors. In the comics, Dr. Curt Connors soon becomes one of Spider-Man's chief enemies, The Lizard. Certainly his presence i nthe last two Spidey flicks has been one great big tease so far, and one would assume that eventually it has to pay off. But will it be this movie? Speculation has been that it'll be a host of villains who take on the wall crawler this go 'round, but nothing's confirmed. A few months ago, producer Todd Black let it slip that the villain for the film would be "a big part of New York". I'm not sure if the Lizard fits that description. However, if the plan is to have Spidey tackling some version of The Sinister Six, then the Lizard's inclusion is almost assured.
UGO has more on the story here.
