Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock in GI Joe : Cobra Strikes?

How anyone could possibly leave out Roadblock from the first GI Joe movie is beyond me. He's only the most popular member of the team. Instead they gave us his lame ass cousin, Heavy Duty. Come on! It sounds as if Jon Chu(Step Up 2, Never Say Never) is set to fix that egregious error in the sequel as Deadline reports that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is circling the role as the rhyming heavy machine gunner and trained chef in GI Joe: Cobra Strikes.

This would be a huge step in the right direction for Johnson, who has been taking some steps away from the kiddie family films he's been swamped with recently. He just recently starred in Fast Five, currently the highest grossing film in the United States. The ex-WWE superstar will be featured next in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, a sequel to 2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Even though GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra earned a strong $300M worldwide, Paramount was quick to start over from scratch. Away went director Stephen Sommers, in came Chu. Also gone are the vast majority of the cast, with only Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Lee Byung-Hung back for another tour. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick(Zombieland) wrote the script, with a planned August 2012 release set in stone.
