Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Giamatti, Maya Rudolph join 'Turbo' voice cast

Dreamworks can never quite seem to get the edge on Pixar in the ongoing war for animation domination. They gained some significant ground with How to Train Your Dragon in 2010, and last year Pixar helped out by only releasing the lackluster Cars 2. This year sees Dreamworks slipping behind yet again, as their two offerings, Madagascar 3 and Rise of the Guardians, haven't caught the attention of moviegoers in the way Pixar's Brave has.

Already looking ahead to 2013, Dreamworks has assembled an impressive voice cast for Turbo, the story of a garden snail with dreams of racing in the Indianapolis 500, embued with super speed after a freak accident. Ryan Reynolds is set to voice the lead, now being joined by Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, and Snoop Dogg.

This doesn't sound like anything I'd be interested normally, but with Robert Siegel(The Wrestler, Big Fan) co-writing the script, chances are Turbo will be far better than it appears on paper. Turbo is set to race into theaters on July 19th 2013. [THR]
