Christian Bale officially boards David O. Russell's next film with Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, and Amy Adams

David O. Russell is quickly becoming one of those directors where every film is perceived as a potential Oscar candidate. This season's Silver Linings Playbook is already being hyped as a possible Best Picture winner, following up on the love Russell received for The Fighter. Now Christian Bale, who took home some gold for his supporting role in the boxing flick has been confirmed for Russell's next project, formerly known as American Bullshit.

You might remember that Bale was one of the first to be attached to the political thriller, but it kinda looked like he was replaced by Bradley Cooper last month. Cooper's still there, and so is Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams. If only Melissa Leo could come aboard and Russell would have all of The Fighter's most decorated stars under one roof again(sorry Mark Wahlberg!). Seriously, this is one stacked line-up, and the story isn't half bad either.

The untitled film is based on the true story of the Abscam scandal, a 1980s FBI undercover operation to root out corruption in Congress. The plot was cooked up by former con artist, Melvin Weinberg(Bale), who along with his mistress(Adams), is forced to team up with an out of control federal agent(Cooper). Renner will play the volatile and charismatic leader of the New Jersey state assembly who is at the epicenter of the story.

Sounds pretty awesome, and with literally every person involved at the height of their careers right now, expect this film to be a big deal when it opens next year.
