The Sunday Drive 10/7/12

3. Frankenweenie
Adapting his own 1984 short story(which got him canned from Disney, ironically), Tim Burton's most personal film in years is a touching and weird Halloween masterpiece.

2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Stephen Chbosky successfully brings his cherished coming-of-age novel to the big screen, powered by heartfelt performances by Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Ezra Miller.
1. Looper
A time-twisting, mind-warping thrillride that gives us some cool Joseph Gordon-Levitt vs. Bruce Willis action while not being afraid to slow down and let the characters breathe. Rian Johnson proves for the third time he's a special filmmaker with a unique voice.

DVD Pick of the Week: The Princess Bride: 25th Anniversary Edition
Inconceivable! That's right, it's been 25 years since Rob Reiner brought Buttercup, Westley, Fezzik, and more into our lives, and made the phrase "I am Inigo Montoya" famous. There are few films as cherished as The Princess Bride, thanks to its mix of cheeky humor, swashbuckling action, and unforgettable characters.
