Warner Bros. delays 'Vacation' remake indefinitely
Remember at the end of 1983's classic comedy, Vacation, when the Griswolds reached Wally World after a disastrous road trip only to discover the park was closed? That's sort of like what has happened to John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein's remake, as Warner Bros. has shelved it indefinitely just as casting was firming up.
According to THR, "creative differences" are the culprit in causing the delay, as one side wants to make a broader PG-13 film, and others hoping to stick to the R-rated tone of the original. It's not clear who is on what side of the issue, but some are saying the delay could halt production until later this year.
Ed Helms was set for the lead role of Rusty Griswold, with Christina Applegate as his wife, and the story would have had him taking his family on a doomed trip similar to the one he went on as a child. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo were set to make a cameo as parents Clark and Ellen Griswold.
