Sean Harris of 'Prometheus' Offered 'Mission: Impossible 5' Villain Role

Every great action movie needs a great bad guy for the heroes to match wits with. It's more difficult for long-running franchises with multiple bad guys because some will obviously be better than others, and that has definitely been the case with Mission: Impossible. Although Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol was the rare exception of a great movie with a terrible villain (what was Michael Nyqvist doing, anyway?), Mission: Impossible 5 will look to give Tom Cruise someone he can really contend with.

According to Deadline that guy will be Sean Harris, best known for his amazing performance as Ian Curtis in 24 Hour Party People. He was also a part of Ridley Scott's Prometheus and was seen earlier this year possessed by a demon in Deliver Us from Evil. The deal is far from done, but if Harris signs on he'll join Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, and Alec Baldwin. Filming is going on now under the direction of Christopher McQuarrie.

Mission: Impossible 5 opens Christmas Day 2015.

Anna Camp Back for 'Pitch Perfect 2'; Jack Huston Takes 'The Longest Ride'; Brendan Gleeson to 'Trespass Against Us'

 * The Barden Bellas are back to full strength for Pitch Perfect 2. Anna Camp has signed on to reprise her role as vomitous team leader, Aubrey Posen. She joins the returning Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, and Skylar Astin amongst others, with Hailee Steinfeld one of the new faces. Posen was a senior in the last film so it'll be interesting to see part she has to play now. Elizabeth Banks is directing for release on May 15th 2015.[THR]

* Boardwalk Empire and American Hustle's Jack Huston has joined Nicholas Sparks adaptation, The Longest Ride. Huston will take one of the lead roles alongside Scott Eastwood, Oona Chaplin, and Britt Robertson, playing the younger version of Ira, a 90-year-old man stuck in his car after an automobile accident. Drifting in and out of consciousness, he begins having visions of the woman he loved before she died. A second interconnected story involves a young art student and the passionate love affair she has with a bull rider. George Tillman Jr. is directing The Longest Ride for release on April 3rd 2015.

* Brendan Gleeson has joined Michael Fassbender in Trespass Against Us, a gangster film following three generations of the Cutler crime family. Fassbender is Chad Cutler, who tries to find a way out of the family business while maintaining his loyalty. Also coming aboard are Rory Kinnear (Skyfall) and Sean Harris (24 Hour Party People), with Adam Smith directing.

Trailers for Horror 'Deliver Us from Evil' Starring Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, and Olivia Munn

There seem to be a great many similarities between Scott Derrickson's Deliver Us from Evil and this past summer's The Conjuring. The trailers Derrickson has put together here, our first real look at the film, employ a similar slow burn style, and it makes sure to tell us it's inspired by the real life demonic cases investigated NYPD Sergeant Ralph Sarchie. Adding that dash of supposed truth doesn't necessarily make the film any scarier, and hopefully this one has enough chills on its own.

Starring Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn, Sean Harris and Joel McHale, Deliver Us from Evil has a pretty conventional set-up that may be tough to overcome. Bana plays a cop, who of course is suffering from a personal crisis, who is joined by an unconventional priest trained in the rituals of exorcism, to investigate a series of demonic possessions.

Deliver Us from Evil opens July 2nd.

Joel McHale joins 'Beware the Night'; Anton Corbijn to direct 'Life' ; Danny Huston open for 'Big Eyes'

* Joel McHale will take a turn for the dramatic by joining Eric Bana in Beware the Night, a supernatural produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Scott Derrickson. Sean Harris (Prometheus) is also coming aboard to co-star alongside Edgar Ramirez and Olivia Munn. Bana plays a New York street cop "who has put his faith in religion behind him, but now finds himself targeted by the devil in the form of possessed soldier". McHale will play Bana's partner, a tough and experienced cop. He'll be seen soon in the fifth season of NBC's Community, and recently joined signed on for Blended, the romantic comedy with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. [THR]

* Anton Corbijn (The American, Control) will venture back into biopic land by directing Life, which explores the relationship between movie star James Dean and photographer Dennis Stock. Written by Luke Davies, the 1955-set story takes place just before Dean's breakout in East of Eden, and chronicles Dean's discovery by Stock, who then travels the country taking photos of the actor commissioned by Life magazine. The images would go a long way in establishing Dean as a cinematic icon. Corbijn's next film, the espionage thriller A Most Wanted Man, opens later this year and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rachel McAdams. [TheWrap]

* Tim Burton continues to cast up Big Eyes, his biopic on the life and career of artists Margaret and Walter Keane, who became known in the 1950s and 60s for their depictions of doe-eyed children. Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz are set to play the couple, and now Danny Huston (X-men Origins: Wolverine) is joining as a gossip reporter who loves his liquor. The story centers on the years-long dispute between Walter and Margaret during their divorce, where he tried to claim credit for their work. The case went to court where Walter was famously humiliated and his career ruined.
