The Talent Show: Christian Bale

Here is a frustration I will carry until my dying days: that Ben Affleck will play Batman after Christian Bale already perfected it. Because, you know what? Christian Bale is a wonderful paragon of manliness.

Sure, his latest, "Out of the Furnace," is kind of uneven, but he's the cornerstone of "American Hustle," and he's the kind of guy who avoids the limelight because he's too busy visiting sick children and making their dreams come true (remember when he visited all the victims of "The Dark Knight Rises" shooting?) Ultimately he's dreamy and handsome and wonderful, and I'm going to say that outburst during "Terminator: Salvation" was because he cares TOO MUCH about his work.

So let's take this fantastic actor and objectify him with some pictures of his dreaminess! Enjoy, readers. I know I am.

Blu-Ray Deal of the Week: The Dark Knight Trilogy for $24.99

Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight trilogy' is the single clearest vision of the Caped Crusader ever brought to the big screen, and to me the definitive interpretation of the character. Nolan's films will go down as a significant step forward for superhero movies, and now you can own all three on Blu-Ray for only $24.99, 53% off the regular price. The 5-Disc set includes Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises and is a must own for Batman fans everywhere. Not bad, eh?  So what are you waiting for? Blu-Ray Deal of the Week: Christopher Nolan Director's Collection for $24.49

While Christopher Nolan entered into the public view of many through his Dark Knight trilogy, long before that he was a director willing to push boundaries and approach familiar genres from unconventional angles. Beginning with his psychological noir, Following, and continuing on through the time-reversing Memento and hazy crime thriller Insomnia, Nolan has found a way to continually up the stakes. Now you can follow the course of his career with our Blu-Ray deal, the Christopher Nolan Director's Collection for only $24.49!

At 51% off the regular retail price, the 7-Disc set includes five of Nolan's greatest films: Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception. That's less than $5 per movie, making this a steal no matter how you slice it. Don't miss out on this great opportunity. Pick up this box set today by ordering yours here!

Blu-Ray Deal of the Week: 'The Dark Knight' trilogy for $37.09

Whether Warner Bros. decides to continue on with Batman's story or start anew, there can be no denying that Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight trilogy' is the single clearest vision of the Caped Crusader ever brought to the big screen, and to me the definitive interpretation of the character. Nolan's films will go down as a significant step forward for superhero movies, and now you can own all three on Blu-Ray for only $37.09. Releasing on December 12th, this set includes Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises in a 5-Disc set that is a must own for Batman fans everywhere. The price is already $15 off what you'll pay in stores, and with the "Pre-Order Price Guarantee", if the cost should drop you'll always pay whatever the lowest amount turns out to be. Not bad, eh?  So what are you waiting for? Own this piece of history today simply by going here.

Um...Joseph Gordon-Levitt's The Dark Knight Rises role not revealed?

I can imagine Christopher Nolan and probably Joseph Gordon-Levitt himself laughing in their secret hide out right now. There seems to be some question as to who exactly JGL will be playing in The Dark Knight Rises, and the conflict is coming from two of the most credible sources in the biz: Variety and Entertainment Weekly.

Over the weekend it was reported that JGL had signed on Nolan's Bat-flick, and that he would be playing Alberto "Holiday Killer" Falcone, son of deposed mob boss Carmine Falcone. Variety based their reporting on "insiders". Now Entertainment Weekly is essentially citing similar unnamed sources, "a source close to the situation" who says otherwise....

"A source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) — the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) — are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!"

So either two of the best news sites around are getting duped by Warner  Brothers, or they need to seriously reevaluate their studio snitches.  This whole thing will probably be wrapped up by the end of the night. Just watch.

Christopher Nolan Overseeing Next Superman Film?

Remember a few days ago when I posted the news that WB execs were really amping up the progress on their tentpole superhero franchises? Superman in particular? It looks like we're starting to see that come to pass. Deadline.com is reporting that Warner Bros. has tapped Christopher Nolan to help "oversee" the upcoming Superman project. While it's not exactly clear what Nolan will be doing, it doesn't at this stage involve writing or directing. Likely it means he'll be doing some script revisions, injecting occasional plot refinements, going over shooting techniques, etc. It's the first real positive step in the production of a Superman film since Superman Returns tanked.

Deadline also insists that Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer are already hard at work on the script to Batman 3, which Christopher Nolan will help finish while also completing his next film, Inception.

It's good to see that WB has finally got off their ass and made a hard decision regarding Superman. Although part of me still believes that the red & blue boyscout just doesn't fit in today's world of gritty, ground level superheroes. The news about Batman 3 is what really gets me goin', though. I know I'm not in the minority by saying that I loved both Batman films, but for me it has to do with having another opportunity to see more of Christopher Nolan's wizardry behind the camera. I've loved literally every movie he's made and eagerly await any chance to see more.

All DC Comics Movies Put on Hold

Obviously somebody over at Warner Bros. has been reading our site. David Goyer confirmed, in an interview with IESB, that all future DC related movie projects have been put on hold until they can iron out the details of a broader plan. No word on whether or not this affects the next Batman film, but since there isn't even a script or director attatched to that yet I guess it doesn't really matter .

A few weeks ago I posted that they needed to "kill the Justice League movie" right now before they effed it up, mainly because DC seemed to have no firm idea of how to handle their stable of characters on the big screen. So I'm overjoyed at this news, because even though I may only read a couple of DC titles every month I recognize that they have the most iconic superheroes on the planet, and I want any film with these characters to succeed. Well, except for Superman. He sucks and I want any film with him to continue sucking.

Hopefully one day we'll get a Secret Six film based off the first arc of Gail Simone's series. What a wild ride that would be!
