Deathlok is Coming to Marvel's 'Agents of SHIELD'

Actually, that headline is a bit of a lie. Deathlok, Marvel's most popular government-controlled cyborg, has been a part of Agents of SHIELD since episode one, played by J. August Richards as Mike Peterson. We pretty much saw this coming, didn't we? The announcement confirms Peterson will become Deathlok on the February 4th episode titled 'T.R.A.C.K.S.'. Here's a description of his character....

Transformed into the cybernetic solider against his will, Mike Peterson must struggle to find the man in the machine. With a high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg, will Deathlok fight alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or against them?

Between this and the earlier announcement of Jaimie Alexander reprising her Thor role as Sif on show's 15th episode, there should be no more complaining about a lack of superheroes on the show. Sif will come to Earth looking to take down Asgardian villain, Lorelai, played by Elena Satine.

Olga Kurylenko, Gal Gadot, and Elodie Yung Up for Wonder Woman in 'Batman vs. Superman'?

Ever since a casting call sheet for Batman vs. Superman seemed to hint at a possible Wonder Woman appearance, rumors have been building about which actress could wield the golden lasso. Over the last few days it's been Thor: The Dark World star Jaime Alexander who has been the Internet favorite, but now three more names have emerged, and more indication that Wonder Woman will indeed appear.

After the suddenly-credible guys at Schmoes Know dropped a tip that Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) had read for the female lead in the film, Variety has now confirmed she is testing for it. And she won't be alone as my girl Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) and Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) are also reading for the part. That role appears to be for Diana Prince, the civilian guise of Wonder Woman. Although there seems to be some confusion to some because rumors suggest it could just be for Bruce Wayne's girlfriend, but is there any reason he couldn't be dating Diana Prince in their off-work hours. Jaime Alexander is apparently out of the picture due to her Marvel obligations, which is disappointing but not at all surprising. All three actress fit the character description to a tee- "tall, brunette, athletic and exotic”, but Kurylenko may have a leg up by working with Ben Affleck on To the Wonder. Look, if you've been reading this site for any length of time then you know it's Gadot that I'm rooting for.

As if having Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman isn't enough, The Flash has is also expected to make a cameo. He may not be alone with some now saying other members of the Justice League could appear, presumably to set up their own solo films or the expected team-up movie.

However this shakes out, the clear take away from this is that the pieces are starting to come together, not just for Batman vs. Superman for all of Warner Bros.' superhero plans.

Jaime Alexander Promises Third 'Thor' Film; Confirms 'Batman vs. Superman' Talks

Marvel's Thor: The Dark World opens in just under a week, and already analysts are projecting it to be do significantly better than the first film. Not surprising given the $1B+ haul of The Avengers and Iron Man 3, and we can probably expect to see bigger numbers for all Marvel films for awhile longer. The cast has been out and about making the press rounds (we should have an interview up in just a few days), and Jaimie Alexander, who promises to see an expanded role as Sif in the film, revealed some information that will have the rumor mill buzzing.

Alexander took part in Stan Lee's Comickaze Expo as part of the Movie Talk panel, where she basically confirmed what we already knew; there WILL be a third Thor movie. No shocker there. The bigger question is whether or not it will be the final Thor film.

Those who have seen Alexander as Sif know she's a definite bad ass, and it's fueled a lot of fan hopes that Warner Bros. would consider her for a future Wonder Woman movie.  She's definitely got the look and physicality for it, and when a recent casting sheet for Batman vs. Superman was calling for a tall, athletic, physically fit actress in her late 20s for a mystery role, it read like the search for Wonder Woman was on. The description basically describes Alexander to a tee.

While she didn't directly address playing Wonder Woman, Alexander revealed that she has had "conversations" with both Marvel and Warner Bros. about future superhero films, and that she "knows thing" about the Batman vs. Superman storyline. While we know that it's very loosely based on The Dark Knight Returns, the exact details would only be known to those who are in the film or are trying out for a major role.

Forbes caught up with her for a follow-up, and she was a little more measured in her words. Here's how they captured it...

Alexander laughed slyly, saying, “I would love for DC to put Wonder Woman in one of their upcoming flicks, either in her own movie or Batman vs. Superman, or just something even to introduce her.” Getting more to the point regarding her earlier comments, Alexander explained carefully, “Being in the comic book world, we know a lot of the same people at DC and Marvel, so we hear a lot of things, but it’s all speculation right now. But I would absolutely love that [Wonder Woman appearing in one of the upcoming films]. Thankfully and gratefully, I’m appreciative to the people who ask my opinion of the character, and that’s been pretty amazing.”

Alexander's a die hard comic book fan and she's spoken in the past about what her version of a Wonder Woman would look like. She told Screen Crush earlier this year....

Alexander: “If you’re going to make Wonder Woman, make it like The Bourne Supremacy. You know, let’s do something awesome like that. Alias was a fantastic show. Why can’t we do that? Why does she have to be in hot pants and spandex and all this stuff? And yeah, I get it, it’s visually stunning for…half of people. But at least make her grow a pair. All she does is eat ice cream while she’s crying over a boy. I know it never aired but that’s what the script said.”

So we'll see what happens, but it definitely looks like Alexander is a star on the rise. With Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige talking often about their desire for more female superhero movies, could we perhaps see a Sif spinoff or Marvel One-Shot? And if there's any doubt that Alexander doesn't have the look to play Wonder Woman for Warner Bros., just check out this fanmade photo, which the actress herself tweeted her approval of!

Thor Takes the Battlefield in New 'Thor: The Dark World' Clip

The addition of Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor seems to have emboldened Marvel to go bigger with Thor: The Dark World. Kenneth Branagh's film featured plenty of action, but it never hit the battlefield in as grand a scale as Taylor's sequel appears to, at least according to this latest clip. Following on yesterday's footage centering on villain Malekith the Accursed, the latest has Thor fighting alongside Sif (Jaime Alexander) and the Warriors Three. It's a scene that resembles Game of Thrones in more ways than one, except for the flying hammer, of course.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Eccleston, Natalie Portman, and Idris Elba, Thor: The Dark World opens November 8th.

First trailer for 'Thor: The Dark World' starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman

As Marvel prepares to unleash Iron Man 3 on us in little more than a week, they've already begun the push for the next in their mega-hit line of superhero titles. We've already seen glimpses of Thor: The Dark World in the Phase Two preview, along with a new poster and some photos released as star Chris Hemsworth has been making the interview rounds. Now Marvel is officially pulling out all of the big guns as the first trailer is finally here.

Directed by Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor, the mood of the sequel is considerably blacker and less flashy, as the title would suggest. Thor finds himself again attempting to save the Earth from a powerful threat, this time from the Dark Elf Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston), and in order to keep his lover Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) safe he whisks her away to Asgard. We already know she'll face some disapproving members of Thor's family, and we see hints of that in the scowl on the face of Sif (Jaime Alexander), who has always seen herself as Thor's true love.

Perhaps most importantly of all, we see the next step in the contentious relationship between Thor and his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is locked away like Hannibal Lecter after the events of The Avengers. It looks like Thor is going to need his help to stop Malekith's schemes, and Loki's sneering glee over that pretty much steals the show. Overall, Marvel appears to be leaving behind some of the campier elements from the first film and going with something that, at least for now, has more of an epic quality.

Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on November 8th, and in October in the U.K.
