Dicaprio Gets Animated in Dreamworks' The Guardians

Hard to believe Leonardo Dicaprio never lent his voice to any animated features yet.I'm sure he's been asked hundreds of times over the course of his career, but maybe he's just been too busy. Or he was waiting for the right project. Who knows? Today Dreamworks Animation announced that Gilbert Grape's little bro has signed on to provide his voice to The Guardians, an animated adventure based on an upcoming book by William Joyce(Meet the Robinsons).

Dicaprio will voice Jack Frost, one of a number of faery tale legends who band together to battle Pitch, an evil spirit bent on taking over the world by inspiring terror in children. Along on this quest are Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, the Sandman, and the Tooth Fairy. The film is already set for a November 2, 2012 release date.

This idea sounds like it was ripped straight out of my favorite comic, Fables. Seems like quite a few projects are stealing from Bill Willingham's amazing series lately. Still, I like the idea and I'm sorta diggin' Jack Frost's look. This might have some steam behind. I'll be keeping a close eye on it's progression over the next couple years.
