Sure Shots: Wimpy Kid 2; Harold and Kumar; Cars 2

* Astro Boy director David Bowers is set to helm Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Roderick Rules, the sequel to the family film released in March of this year. Wimpy Kid, based on the series of children's books by Jeff Kinney, was a surprise hit grossing nearly $64M. Good news. I quite enjoyed the first one.

* You can't have another Harold and Kumar flick without Neil Patrick Harris. The first one jumpstarted his career, and he's basically as much a part of those movies as John Cho and Kal Penn. Good thing that it's been confirmed that the former Doogie Howser will be showing up in A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, due out in November. Expect more psychodelic hijinks involving rare animals to ensue.

* Cars 2 ain't soundin' so hot to me. Pixar has confirmed that John Lasseter(Cars, Toy Story 1 & 2) has been brought on as co-director of the sequel, assisting first time director Brad Lewis. While I have complete faith in Pixar, and acknowledge that this is probably not as big a deal as it sounds, Cars 2 always had a suspect premise to me. The original is probably my least favorite Pixar film anyway, and the international adventures of Mater the Tow Truck and Lightning McQueen does not sound appealing.
